Tech: Joining in the March for a Cure

Meadville, PA - April 2007

According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, over 400,000 Americans and their families live with the devastating effects of MS and during every hour of every day, another person is diagnosed with this crippling disease. There is hope. Over 200,000 participants join together annually in April to participate in the MS Walk to raise money and awareness to bring sufferers one step closer to a cure.

Tech Tool and Molded Plastics has participated as a team in the Meadville MS Walk for the last two years. The 2007 Walk took place on Sunday, April 22 and Tech registered 24 participants in the team effort raising over $1,667 to help in the stride for a cure.

“Almost every one on our walk team knows someone or has a family member who has been impacted by MS. To Tech, this is more than just a fundraising event, but it is a chance for us to unite to help our community and the National MS Society raise awareness and much needed funding for research. It is also a chance for us to celebrate life and enjoy each other,” stated Cindy Paris, Tech MS Walk team co-captain.

Lucy Bement, team co-captain, said of the efforts, “We had quite a few more walkers this year and I’m extremely happy with the end result. Our goal was to beat $600, but I secretly had hopes of reaching $1000. I am so glad that those of us who can walk took the initiative to collect pledges for those who can’t. A team total of $1667 is GREAT! I really am proud to be part of a team that gets involved in community events.”

The statement on the National MS Society website sums up the event, “The day when we finally find the cure for multiple sclerosis is getting closer. This is why we walk.”
