Hanaway Elected as President of NW PA Chapter of NTMA

Meadville, PA - January 2006

Scott Hanaway has been elected to a two-year term as president of the northwest Pennsylvania chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association.

Hanaway is president of Tech Tool & Mold, Inc. and Tech Molded Plastics, LP of Meadville, PA. He has been president of the firm since 1990. The company was founded in 1973 by William and Eva Hanaway as a small precision tooling and die shop. Scott Hanaway began working at Tech long before he had graduated from high school. During his tenure as a journeyman toolmaker, Scott shared the passion for precision machining, product innovation and community involvement with his parents. Since assuming the role of President in 1990, Scott has gown the organization into two award winning world class manufacturing companies, Tech Tool & Mold, Inc. and Tech Molded Plastics LP.

Scott’s vision and motivation placed Tech on the cutting edge of technology and training. Through the years, it has grown from a small garage to a 54,000-square-foot facility with the world’s most advanced equipment and one of the highest skilled workforces in the industry. Tech has been recognized as the 2005 US Small Business Administration Small Business of the Year for a 5 state region, Gannon University’s SBDC “2004 Manufacturer of the Year,” and most recently the prestigious Winslow Award for its contribution to economic growth in the region. The recognition that Tech has received under Scott’s direction has reinforced the company’s commitment to community development, training excellence, job creation, growth and outstanding service.

Building a business requires a constant focus on continuous improvement. Scott believes that “If we are to build a future for our people and our industry and the quality of our product, we have to be responsible citizens within our community.”

Scott will be serving as President of the Northwest Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association for 2006 and 2007. He will help guide the association through some of the most challenging years as globalization reshapes the face of manufacturing in America. His commitment to training, innovation and community will help the NTMA Chapter membership compete in the coming years.

Scott also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Manufacturer’s Association of Northwest PA and has participated as a member of the Vo-Tech Advisory Board.
