Manufacturer's Association of NWPA Celebrates 100 Years

Erie , PA - June 2005

The Manufacturers’ Association celebrated their 100th Annual Event on June 21, 2005, Erie, Pa. with a number of exciting events. Manufacturer’s Association board member and President of Tech Tool & Mold, Inc., Scott Hanaway planned and participated in much of the events. “The 100th Anniversary celebration truly reflected the commitment, dedication and leadership that manufacturing has

inspired in our region. To remain a leader in manufacturing, we must pursue excellence through training, invest in our people and in emerging technology to compete in the global marketplace. The association is one of the more valuable ingredients in our recipe for success” said Mr. Hanaway.

General Colin Powell, soldier, statesman, and former U.S. Secretary of State, commanded the Tulio Arena crowd, when he gave his keynote address to approximately 4,500 guests. Other noteworthy attendees included political humorist, Mark Russell, and former NFL great and potential gubernatorial candidate, Lynn Swann.

Another evening highlight included the presentation of the "American Manufacturing Tribute Bike," which was unveiled, signed, and ridden by actor Peter Fonda of “Easy Rider” fame. The custom bike was designed to feature 21 member companies that manufacture parts directly or indirectly for American motorcycle icon Harley-Davidson. This special order, chromed-out, decked-out 2005 FLSTN/I Softail Deluxe took nearly 200 hours to customize and commemorates the Celebrate American Manufacturing tour geared toward informing and exciting high school students across northwest Pennsylvania about manufacturing careers.

Nearly 3,500 bikers motored into Griswold Park for the Manufacturer’s Association Bike/Rally Night led by Peter Fonda on the customized American Manufacturing Tribute Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe where a fantastic fireworks finale took place for all to enjoy.
